Dear Parents,

Congratulations on the birth of your child. Thank you for expressing your desire to have your child welcomed into God’s family through Baptism. The day of a child’s Baptism is a very important day in their life, because through Baptism we are incorporated into the God’s Church and are reborn as sons and daughters of God.

As it is a condition of Baptism that you promise to bring the baby up in the Catholic faith, at least one Godparent must be a Catholic. Normally parents choose 2 Godparents.

Baptisms are held the 2nd & 4th Sunday of the Month at 10:00am. Up to three families may have their Baptism in the same ceremony. Private Baptisms can be arranged at the time of booking.

Prior to the Baptism date, parents must attend a Baptism Preperation Evening with the Parish Priest. This meeting will explain the Sacrament and provides an opportunity to ask questions and find out what happens on the day. These evenings are held  the 3rd Thursday of the Month at 6:00pm.

There is no charge for Baptisms, however,  a donation to the Parish Priest & for the Church is customary and very much appreciated. Please place the donations in two separate envelope and hand them to the Priest on the day of the Baptism.

Baptisms need to be booked in and parents wishing to have their child/children Baptised, should also make a booking to attend one of the Baptismal Preparation Evenings.

Please call the Parish Office on 9294 3504 to book.

Children attending Government schools can receive religious education at our After School Religious Classes held every Tuesday afternoon between 3:45pm and 4:45pm at St Anthony’s School. The program caters for children from Year 1 to Year 7 and includes preparation for the Sacraments of First Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation. It is recommended that a child participates in the whole program starting from Year 1.

The Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults names the process by which individuals desiring to become the members of the Catholic Church, embrace a journey of spiritual and personal formation. The Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) are celebrated during the Easter Vigil and the group meets once a week at 7.30pm. Please contact the Parish office for more information.

The School Sacramental Program begins in Year Three with Reconciliation, followed by Communion in Year Four and Confirmation in Year Six. Children must be baptised to take part in the Sacramental Program. Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) is the program which prepares children (not baptised as infants and in Year One or older), for Baptism. RCIC classes run on a needs basis and last for 6 weeks. RCIC classes are usually on a Wednesday for an hour from 4pm, during 1st and 3rd term. Please call the Parish Office on 9294 3504 to register your child if they have not been baptised and you would like them to attend these classes.

Church Booking: Twelve months notice to the Parish of an intended marriage would be ideal. A minimum of six months is required. Our church is not available for Weddings on Good Friday, Holy Saturday or Christmas day. Please check with the Parish Office for Days and Times that Weddings can be book.
